Die Publikation begleitet die erste österreichische Retrospektive des neben Edvard Munch und Per Kirkeby wohl bedeutendsten skandinavischen Künstlers des 20. Jahrhunderts am Museum der Moderne Salzburg. Seine zwischen 1932 und 1972 entstandenen Lithografien, Radierungen, Holz- und Linolschnitte demonstrieren die Experimentierfreude des Künstlers und sein Interesse an den Möglichkeiten des Materials ebenso wie seine reiche Fabulierkunst und seinen Witz.
