Description

"This book is intended as a work of dialogue, even of controversy; yet it is also, I hope, in some sense a work of vision. It is controversial; firstly, because it puts forward a point of view about the Church which may not be acceptable to all even among my unseparated brethren; secondly, because its central part is both an examination and a criticism of the views of many of my separated brethren. I think that in both ways controversial writing is very necessary, and that in the irenic atmosphere of the present there may even be a danger of the second type being neglected." -- Preface.
