Based on finds from the military site of Strebersdorf (very probably the ancient Rhispia), situated halfway between Savaria (Szombathely) and Scarabantia (Sopron), the different strategies of the Roman Empire in resource extraction and control during the occupation phase of Tiberian-Claudian times (14-50+ AD) and during the Marcomannic Wars (166-180 AD) under Marcus Aurelius are presented.
