First Sentence
On the evening of October 11, 1492, Christopher Columbus, after sixty-eight days of sailing, sighted in the far distance a moving light. Columbus sailed straight towards this light and discovered America. On the evening of February 8, 1914, my brother and I were serving a sentence in the corner. After twelve minutes my little brother, because he was younger than I, was pardoned. But he refused to leave before the end of my term, and remained in the corner. A few minutes later we made a meditative and realistic investigation of the inside of our noses [sic]. On the fourth minute, having exhausted our noses, we discovered Shvambrania. The above is the entire first "chapter" entitled "Discovery."
