Description
An outgrowth of the political bitterness of Jefferson's administration. Two letters were written to the President over the signature of Nicolas Geoffroy, of Newport, R.I., which turned out to be forgeries. Senator Ellery (Republican, Rhode Island) accused Representative Rutledge (Federalist, South Carolina) of writing them, and this pamphlet is in support of that accusation.
