First Sentence

THE fact that the present Old Testament Theology is divided into two volumes suggests that there is a definite break between the message of the prophets and the ideas held by earlier Jahwism, but proof of this cannot be given at once or in a single sentence: it can only appear with the development of the whole subject which follows.
