Description
A formula is derived for the correction of the hyperfine structure constant owing to the fact that nuclear magnetism differs in nature from a point magnetic dipole. A possible form of the angular part of the magnetic density is examined for a specified radial part of the density of nuclear magnetism. These angular parts are phenomenologically defined and are able to make a contribution to the magnetic hyperfine structure constant. This contribution is required to close the gap between theory and experiment for the atoms: He3, Li6, Na22, and Na23.
