Description

"On September 1, 1616 Marie de Medicis arrested the Prince de Condé. Thereafter, several of his followers, nobleman themselves rebelled again against the crown. There followed several skirmishes as well as several declarations and "Lettres patentes" etc. aimed to quell the new uprising. In April and May 1617 the young King asserted his authority and expelled his mother from the court. This declaration, "Donné à Paris le 24 iour de Iuillet, l'an de grace, 1617", restores all positions and property to the rebelling princes"--French Political Pamphlets Digital Collection, Brigham Young University.
